Perfect for gymnastics studios or physical education tumbling equipment, this 2" dual-layer urethane and polyurethane foam mat supports a wide range of skill levels and activities. Plus, choose from 17 colors to build school spirit!

One side features a 1-1/2” layer of soft urethane foam for basic exercise, tumbling, and low-impact gymnastics with elementary students. Turn it over to a 1/2” layer of firm closed-cell foam for high-impact activities with older users who need more recoil and energy-return.

A smooth, nylon-reinforced 16 oz antimicrobial vinyl cover is flame-retardant, washable, and mildew-resistant, with double-reinforced nylon-stitched inside seams for durability and maximum safety. Folding mats collapse into 1' or 2' sections for easy storage.

Mats feature hook-and-loop fasteners on 2 sides, on 4 sides, or without. Mats without hook-and-loop fasteners can be used individually, or mats with 1-1/2" hook-and-loop fasteners can be linked together in a long run or combined to cover large areas.

Mats are available in 6 sizes, with 3 hook-and-loop fastener options, in 17 colors in solid or alternating 2' panels. Specify color(s) when ordering.

15 Dynamic PE Activities Using TumblePro FlipSide 2" Layered-Foam Custom Color Tumbling Mats

The Gopher TumblePro FlipSide 2" Layered-Foam Custom Color Tumbling Mats are a versatile, durable, and customizable option for physical education settings. These mats feature two layers of foam—one firm for support and one soft for comfort—making them ideal for a wide range of activities, from tumbling to stretching to balance work. Their customizable colors allow teachers to create color-coded zones for stations or movement cues, and their hook-and-loop fasteners allow mats to be connected for expanded activity areas. The following 15 activities leverage these features to help students develop essential fundamental movement skills through safe, engaging, and creative experiences.

1. FlipSide Color Crawl: Students jump only on specific color panels (called by the teacher), building spatial awareness, directional listening, and coordination.

2. Jump & Land Lab: Students jump from one mat to another and “stick the landing” with balanced arms. Focuses on jumping, landing, and core stability.

3. Roll & Rise Relay: Teams take turns performing a forward roll and sprinting to a cone and back. Enhances rolling, running, and teamwork.

4. Leapfrog Launchpad: Students leap over peers kneeling on mats, landing safely on the other side. Develops leaping and safe landing skills.

5. Twist & Touch Trek: Students twist side-to-side and touch opposite corners of their mat with both hands. Builds twisting and body coordination.

6. Mat Tag Dash: Use multiple mats as safe zones in a tag game. Players must perform a roll to stay on a mat. Combines rolling, dodging, and agility.

7. Color Panel Pose-Off: Call a color and a pose (e.g., blue + tree pose). Students must balance on the matching panel in the pose. Reinforces balance and reaction.

8. Forward Roll to Finish: Students begin with a forward roll, pop up, and sprint to touch a wall or cone. Reinforces transitional movement.

9. Partner Pose Mirror: Partners stand on adjacent mats and mirror each other’s poses. Builds teamwork, balance, and visual focus.

10. Jump-to-Color Chase: Students jump to land on a specific color panel while evading a soft tagger. Combines agility, reaction, and jumping.

11. Flip & Flow Sequence: Students design a short flow of 3 movements: roll, pose, stretch—then perform them in order. Develops creative sequencing and self-expression.

12. Tunnel Crawl Time Trial: Create tunnels by folding mats upright and placing them in a line. Students crawl through as fast as possible. Builds coordination and spatial awareness.

13. FlipSide Flip Relay: Students forward roll to the end of the mat, perform a bridge or pose, then return. Relay teaches directional movement and sequence completion.

14. Mat-to-Mat Leap Line: Connect mats and challenge students to leap across gaps or from mat to mat. Enhances leaping distance and landing control.

15. Tumbling Treasure Hunt: Hide a small item under one mat. After performing a roll or pose, students guess where it's hidden. Builds engagement, memory, and focus.
