Our softest 2" thick urethane foam tumbling mats provide ultimate cushioning for low-impact activities. Due to their extreme softness, these mats are generally recommended for tumbling and gymnastics for kids ages K-4.

Smooth, nylon-reinforced 14 oz antimicrobial vinyl covers offer a friendly landing surface and are flame-retardant, mildew-resistant, and wipe-clean. Double-reinforced, nylon-stitched inside seams ensure durability, maximum safety, and longer life.

To join multiple mats together for a larger tumbling/gymnastic area or a longer run, these foam mats include 1-1/2" hook-and-loop fasteners on 2 ends. When class is over, folding mats collapse into 1' or 2' sections for easy storage. Mats can be stacked for convenience and space conservation in cramped closets.

25 TumblePro 2" Urethane-Foam Rainbow Tumbling Mat Activities

The following activities are designed to inspire movement, coordination, and fun using the TumblePro 2" Urethane-Foam Rainbow Tumbling Mats. These ideas are tailored to engage students in grades K-4, promoting both individual and group participation with plenty of energy and enthusiasm!

1. Mat Color Challenge: Call out a specific color on the mat and have students run, hop, or tumble their way to the designated color. This activity promotes simple, fun movement.

2. Animal Walk Parade: Assign students different animal movements like bear walks, crab walks, or frog jumps and have them parade across the mats. This activity builds basic body awareness and coordination.

3. Rocket Blast-Off: Students sit on their bottoms and scoot across the mat as if they are "rocket ships," using only their arms to propel forward. It's a simple way to strengthen the arms and core.

4. Starfish Slide: Students lie on their backs in a starfish position and use their hands and feet to push themselves across the mats. This improves coordination and balance.

5. Somersault to Color: Have students perform somersaults and stop when they reach a specific color on the mat. This helps them practice basic tumbling skills while making it fun.

6. Mat Pattern Hop: Lay out mats in a pattern. Students hop from mat to mat using different foot patterns (one foot, two feet, alternating feet), working on coordination and balance.

7. Shape Roll Call: Call out different body shapes (like tuck, pike, or star) and have students perform a roll while maintaining that shape across the mat, helping them focus on control and form.

8. Rolling Train Tumbles: Students form a line and follow one another, performing a combination of rolls, jumps, and tumbles. This improves sequencing and timing.

9. Rolling Pin Partner Tumbles: One student performs a straight body roll while their partner tries to roll right behind them without touching, promoting teamwork and coordination.

10. Rainbow Roll Relay: Divide students into teams and have them roll across the Rainbow mats. This activity focuses on straight rolling and teamwork in a race format.

11. Color Dodge Tumbling: While students perform tumbling routines on the mats, soft foam balls are gently rolled towards them. They must dodge the balls while maintaining their tumbling moves.

12. Forward Roll Circuit: Set up multiple mats in a circuit formation. Students complete a forward roll on each mat, jogging to the next mat after each roll to build fluid movement.

13. Tumble Dice Roll: Assign tumbling actions to different numbers on a large foam dice. Students roll the dice and perform the corresponding action, adding an element of unpredictability and fun.

14. Cartwheel Lane: Set up a row of connected mats where students practice cartwheels down the entire line, focusing on control and balance.

15. Rolling Leapfrog: Students alternate between performing a forward roll and leaping over a partner in a crouched position, repeating this process across the mat for coordination and flow.

16. Rainbow Freeze Roll: Play music while students roll or cartwheel across the mats. When the music stops, they must freeze in place, building quick reflexes and body control.

17. Partner Roll Races: Pair students up and have them roll across the mats simultaneously. The pair who reaches the end first wins, promoting competition and coordination.

18. Zigzag Mat Balance: Place the mats in a zigzag pattern. Students must balance while walking along the edges of the mats, focusing on stability and coordination.

19. Tumble and Jump Maze: Set up mats in various formations and create pathways for students to follow. They must tumble through certain sections and jump over others, adding complexity to their movement.

20. Bridge Walk: Students perform a bridge (hands and feet on the ground, belly up) and must walk across the mats. This activity helps develop core strength and balance.

21. Backward Roll Relay: Divide students into teams and have them perform backward rolls from one end of the mat to the other, improving their spatial awareness and tumbling skills.

22. Gymnastic Pose Sequence: Have students perform a sequence of gymnastic poses (such as a balance, a lunge, and a jump) on different colored sections of the mats. The goal is to move smoothly from one pose to the next.

23. Log Roll Pathway: Create a long run of connected mats and have students log roll from one end to the other. Increase difficulty by adding a timer or having them switch directions halfway through.

24. Mat Jump Spectacular: Lay out multiple mats in a line or zigzag pattern and have students jump between them. Vary the distance to challenge their jumping and landing skills.

25. Tumbling Tunnel Tag: Create tunnels with the mats by folding them into arches or stacking them. Students must crawl through the tunnels while avoiding being tagged by designated taggers outside the tunnels. This adds excitement while promoting agility and spatial awareness.
