TumblePro 2" Polyethylene-Foam Reduced Injury Factor Rainbow Gymnastics Mats

High-impact Rainbow mats take the sting out of learning gymnastics!
You must choose an option from above before adding to your cart.

Our Reduced Injury Factor mats feature an additional 5/8" of foam that doubles the cushioning and reduces the incidence of bottoming out during high-impact use. Fun Rainbow colors make it easy for newcomers to find confidence on the mat.

Extreme shock absorption of these 2” thick mats offers a great foundation for practicing high-flying, fast-paced movements without fear of injury. They cushion impact to reduce injury, yet their firmness also prevents foam from compressing or sagging over time.

The textured 14 oz antimicrobial vinyl-coated fabric cover is also flame-retardant, washable, and mildew-resistant. Smooth, double-reinforced nylon-stitched seams provide the strength to give these mats a long life. Because the foam won't absorb water, you can use these premium gymnastics mats indoors or out.

Hook-and-loop fasteners on 2 ends allows multiple mats to be linked together in a long run. Folding mats collapse into 1’ or 2' sections for easy storage and can be stacked for maximum space efficiency when not in use.

15 Safety-Focused Movement Activities Using TumblePro 2" Polyethylene-Foam RIF Rainbow Gymnastics Mats

The Gopher TumblePro 2" Polyethylene-Foam Reduced Injury Factor (RIF) Rainbow Gymnastics Mats are specially designed to offer maximum shock absorption and safety during high-impact activities. With thick, high-density Polyethylene-Foam and a unique construction that reduces impact forces by up to 36%, these mats are ideal for teaching gymnastics, tumbling, and high-energy movement skills while minimizing injury risk. The bright rainbow colors also help with station organization and movement cues. Below are 15 creative, age-appropriate activity ideas that use these mats to teach and reinforce fundamental movement skills in a fun, safe, and highly engaging way.

1. Rainbow Roll Rodeo: Students perform forward rolls from one colored panel to the next, stopping on teacher-cued colors. Builds rolling, spatial awareness, and body control.

2. Cushion Cartwheel Course: Use multiple mats to create a safe cartwheel pathway. Students move from one mat to the next performing cartwheels. Teaches lateral movement and coordination.

3. Jump & Stick Circuit: Students jump from two feet and land on a target color panel with arms extended in a "stick" pose. Focuses on jumping, landing, and balance.

4. Mat Hopscotch Hustle: Use colored panels as oversized hopscotch grids. Students hop one-foot or two-foot across in pattern. Focuses on hopping and rhythmic movement.

5. RIF Reaction Rainbow: Teacher calls out a color and movement (e.g., "green – twist"), and students perform it on that colored panel. Builds twisting and reaction time.

6. Mat Island Leap: Arrange mats as "islands" across the gym. Students leap from one to the next without touching the "lava." Develops leaping, coordination, and planning.

7. Cartwheel Countdown: Students perform as many cartwheels as possible with perfect form in 30 seconds. Encourages coordination, speed under control, and stamina.

8. Shoulder Roll Shuffle: Students practice shoulder rolls down the mats, using the extra padding to safely explore new rolling patterns and directional changes.

9. Animal Moves Adventure: Students bear crawl, crab walk, and bunny hop across the mat. Encourages locomotor diversity and muscle activation.

10. Rainbow Pose Pick: Each color panel corresponds to a balance pose (e.g., red = tree, blue = airplane). Students move to the color and hold the matching pose. Teaches static balance and direction following.

11. Rainbow Reaction Rollout: Students only roll on the color the teacher calls. Builds listening and quick directional response.

12. Flip & Flow Routine: Students create and perform a short tumbling flow (e.g., roll → jump → balance pose). Encourages creative movement and skill transition.

13. Backward Roll Basics: Use thick RIF mats to safely teach backward rolls. Emphasizes safe body positioning and rolling technique.

14. Flip Side Fitness: Each mat color corresponds to a simple fitness move (e.g., green = roll, red = plank, yellow = stretch). Students rotate through. Integrates fitness with fundamental skills.

15. Safe Spot Showdown: In a game of freeze tag, students can perform a roll or pose on a mat to avoid getting tagged. Combines rolling, balance, and spatial strategy.
