Rainbow DuraCoat Versa Coated-Foam Balls

Foam balls with an incredibly durable coating and livelier bounce that's great for any activity!
You must choose an option from above before adding to your cart.

These balls are extremely versatile with the same dependable, slightly firmer, medium-bounce construction as our other coated-foam balls. The thicker DuraCoat cover makes these foam balls tough and ready for action.

Exceptionally Tough

Our DuraCoat coating is 33% thicker than regular coated-foam balls for 50% more strength! The extra thickness makes these balls pick-proof for years of use! Slightly heavier than average foam bals, these balls give students a realistic experience while developing ball handling skills.

Great for Learning

The size, texture, and firmness of our DuraCoat Versa Balls make them ideal for early sports activities, such as soccer and volleyball. The medium-bounce foam is firmer than our dodgeballs and Squeeze balls, but not as dense as our Bounce balls.

Activity Ideas Using Rainbow® DuraCoat™ Versa™ Coated Foam Balls

The objective of these activities is to engage students in practicing their fundamental movement skills such as throwing, catching, rolling, and more, while using Rainbow® DuraCoat™ Versa™ Coated Foam Balls. Each activity will emphasize either locomotor, manipulative, non-locomotor, or combination movements in a fun and dynamic way.

1. Rainbow Roll Relay: Students form teams and take turns rolling their foam ball to a designated target. The goal is to knock down a pin or cone. Teams compete to see who can knock down the most pins in a set time. This activity develops rolling and accuracy skills.

2. Bounce and Catch Dash: Pairs of students stand across from each other and bounce the ball toward their partner. The partner must catch it after one bounce. As they succeed, they step further apart. This teaches hand-eye coordination and catching skills.

3. Foam Ball Soccer Dribble Dash: Students dribble the 8.25"" foam ball with their feet through a series of cones to a goal at the other end of the gym. This activity improves soccer dribbling and foot coordination using the larger foam ball.

4. Target Throwdown: Set up hula hoops at various distances from a starting line. Students take turns throwing their Rainbow® DuraCoat™ Versa™ Coated Foam Ball into the hoops. The durable, tacky cover of the ball provides an improved grip, allowing students to throw with greater accuracy, even from long distances. This improves aiming and throwing precision.

5. Pinball Pursuit: Scatter pins or cones throughout the play area, and students must roll the foam ball to knock down as many pins as possible within a given time. This encourages spatial awareness and precision rolling.

6. Guard the Gold: Each team protects a “gold stash” (a stack of cones or foam blocks) while trying to knock down the opposing team’s stash with foam balls. Players must balance offense and defense, working on accuracy and strategy.

7. Foam Ball Hoop Challenge: Create a shooting contest where students try to score baskets from different locations marked with cones. The larger 8.25"" foam ball makes shooting more approachable for beginners, enhancing their shooting accuracy and decision-making.

8. Catch Me If You Can: Pairs of students toss the foam ball back and forth, but after each successful catch, they take one step back. If a ball drops, they start again closer together. The tacky cover helps students maintain a secure grip, making it easier to catch and throw successfully from increasing distances. This improves catching and throwing proficiency.

9. Ball Balance Challenge: Students balance their foam ball on different parts of their body (head, back, knees) while walking through a course. This activity helps with balance, body control, and core stability.

10. Capture the Target: Targets such as cones, foam blocks, or hoops are placed in the center of the gym. Teams try to hit the targets with foam balls from a distance. Each successful hit allows them to “capture” the target and move it to their side. This game builds throwing accuracy and team coordination.

11. Hoop Invaders: Hula hoops are placed upright or hung at different heights around the gym. Students must throw their foam ball through as many hoops as possible while defending their own. The team with the most points wins. This develops throwing precision and spatial awareness.

12. Foam Ball Volleyball Scramble: Teams play a modified volleyball game using the 8.25"" foam ball. The softer ball allows for easier volleys and longer rallies. Students can practice their bump, set, and spike techniques while working on teamwork and communication.

13. Air Toss Agility: Students throw their foam ball in the air and try to clap a certain number of times before catching it. This enhances timing, catching, and coordination skills.

14. Wall Ball Bounce Back: Students throw their foam ball at a wall, trying to catch it as it bounces back. Vary the distance from the wall to increase difficulty. This improves hand-eye coordination and reaction time.

15. Castle Crusher: Teams build small “castles” using foam blocks or cones on their side of the gym. The objective is to knock down the other team’s castle by throwing foam balls at it while defending their own. The durable, tacky cover of the ball helps players aim more accurately and provides better control when throwing, increasing their chances of successfully knocking down the castles. This develops throwing accuracy and teamwork.
