NowNet Instant Net Activity Ideas

The NowNet Instant Net is a highly portable and easy-to-set-up net that enables teachers to introduce a variety of net and racquet games quickly. Whether it's in a gym, on the field, or in an indoor court, this net can be adjusted to fit a range of activities and skill levels. Below are unique activity ideas using the NowNet to enhance student engagement, focusing on skills like hand-eye coordination, agility, and teamwork.

1. Paddle Pop Rally: Set up the NowNet with 28" vinyl cones. Students use paddles to hit foam balls back and forth, practicing hand-eye coordination. Perfect for beginners learning basic paddle control.

2. Quick Serve Tennis: Use foam or low-bounce tennis balls. Students take turns serving over the NowNet, with a focus on proper tennis serving technique. Ideal for beginners learning control and power.

3. Volleyball Mini-Sets: Use the NowNet for small-group volleyball games with Gopher's Kowabunga beachballs. Divide students into teams of 2-4 and have them play short rallies with a focus on setting and passing.

4. Net-Crossed Four Square: Use the NowNet Instant Nets to create a large four square court by intersecting two nets in the middle of the playing area, forming four distinct spaces. Each square represents a player's zone. This game can be played with Volleyball, Pickleball, Badminton, FloorBall, or NitroBall.

5. Floorball Frenzy: Set up the NowNet Instant Nets on either side of the gym to act as goals for a fast-paced game of floorball. Players hit a foam ball with their hand so the ball travels under the net. Players continue to hit the ball consecutively until a point is score. Encourage beginners to trap the ball before hitting it back.

5. NitroBall Bounce Battle: In this volleyball variation, players must hit the ball downward, ensuring it bounces off the court before crossing the net. Teams of 2 players work together to return the ball using up to three hits per side, with points awarded when the ball bounces twice on the opponent's side or when they fail to return it. First team to 21 points wins!

6. Badminton Basics: Introduce badminton using the NowNet. Students practice their forehand and backhand shots over the net. It's a great way to build their understanding of racket control and spatial awareness.

7. Pickleball Perfection: Set up multiple NowNet stations across the gym or field. Students practice their pickleball skills, focusing on dinks, volleys, and smashes, encouraging them to work on ball placement and control.

8. Balloon Volleyball Blast: Use the NowNet and balloons for a beginner-friendly volleyball game. The lightweight balloons allow students to focus on positioning and movement without the pressure of a fast-moving ball.

9. Cone Tennis Target Challenge: Place cones on either side of the NowNet and have students serve or rally to knock down the cones. This develops aim, control, and teamwork as students work together to hit specific targets.

10. Pop-Up Volleyball: Set up the NowNet for a mini-volleyball game with smaller teams. Focus on teamwork and basic volleyball skills like bumping, setting, and spiking in a smaller court setting.

11. Two-Hand Catch Challenge: Using foam balls, students stand on opposite sides of the NowNet and toss the ball over for their partner to catch with both hands. This builds hand-eye coordination and teamwork.

12. Frisbee Frenzy: Challenge students to throw frisbees over the NowNet, practicing their aim and control while learning to adapt to different throwing heights.

13. Net Navigators: Set up the NowNets throughout the gym as part of an obstacle course. Students will dribble a ball (soccer, basketball, or even a foam ball) through the maze.

14. Pacman Pursuit: Set up multiple NowNets around the gym to create boundaries for a "Pacman" style game. One student is designated as "Pacman" and must move around the space while staying within the boundaries created by the NowNets. Other students, acting as "ghosts," chase the Pacman and try to tag them.

15. Driving Range Dividers: Use the NowNet Instant Nets as dividers to set up a safe and organized "driving range" for activities like throwing, kicking or golf drills. Place the NowNets in parallel rows across the gym or field to create individual lanes for each student.
