NimBall Reaction Balls
Six “nubs" cause the oversized reaction ball to bounce in unpredictable directions when thrown, requiring students to react quickly to catch it. An oversized, soft design makes it easy for beginners to grab it and get nimble! One large size fits all, but the inflation level can be easily varied to increase or decrease the bounce intensity based on the age and ability of your students. 5" dia.
15 Nimble & Nutty PE Activities Using NimBall Reaction Balls
The NimBall Reaction Balls are unique foam reaction balls with a six-knobbed shape that makes them bounce unpredictably in any direction when dropped or thrown. What sets them apart from other reaction balls is their soft foam construction—safe for all ages and environments—combined with their bright color and random rebound design. They’re perfect for developing reaction time, hand-eye coordination, agility, and footwork without the risk of injury. Below are 15 one-of-a-kind, fun, and effective physical education activities using the NimBall Reaction Balls to target a wide range of fundamental movement skills (FMS).
1. Bounce & Bolt Blitz: Students drop a NimBall, let it bounce once, then sprint to catch it. Builds agility, reaction time, and acceleration.
2. Chaos Catch Challenge: In partners, one student drops the NimBall, and the other must react and catch it after the first bounce. Focuses on hand-eye coordination and tracking.
3. Nimble Ninja Dodger: Students roll or bounce the NimBall toward each other while trying to avoid getting touched. Builds dodging, awareness, and footwork.
4. Reaction Relay Rumble: In relay lines, students run up, bounce the NimBall, and catch it before it bounces again. Adds excitement to relay racing and sharpens reaction skills.
5. Freeze Bounce Frenzy: Students move freely around the space; when a NimBall bounces near them, they freeze and try to catch it in place. Teaches reaction time and body control.
6. Partner Push-Off Pursuit: In pairs, one student pushes the NimBall across the floor, the other chases and grabs it before it stops. Works on speed and footwork.
7. Reaction Rink Run: Place multiple NimBall Reaction Balls around a play area. On the signal, students run to the nearest ball and attempt to catch the first bounce. Encourages scanning, sprinting, and reaction time.
8. Bouncer Bowling Bash: Students bounce the NimBall to knock over Cones. Develops underhand bouncing accuracy and timing.
9. Double Drop Duel: Two students simultaneously drop NimBalls—the first to catch theirs after a bounce wins. Builds focus, timing, and fun competition.
10. Scoot & Scoot Scramble: On Gopher Scooters, students chase bouncing NimBalls across the gym floor. Reinforces coordination and manipulative pursuit.
11. Tag & Toss Takedown: In a tag game, the “tagger” can only tag by bouncing a NimBall to touch the other players. Reinforces rolling, aiming, and decision-making.
12. Bounce Memory Match: Place color-coded NimBalls across the gym. Call out a color—students must bounce and catch that color only. Teaches color recognition and reaction time.
13. Wall Ball Wacky Catch: Bounce the NimBall off a wall—students try to catch the rebound. Varies based on throwing power and angle. Builds anticipation and reflexes.
14. Foot Flick Frenzy: Students must stop a bouncing NimBall with their foot, not hands. Enhances kicking control and quick foot reactions.
15. NimBall Knockout Nest: Use markers to create “nests.” Students must bounce a NimBall so it lands inside a nest to earn points. Teaches spatial judgment and target accuracy.
