15 Fun and Skill-Focused Floor Hockey Activities Using the Gopher RinkPro Steel Floor Hockey Goals
The Gopher RinkPro Steel Floor Hockey Goals are ultra-durable, all-steel hockey goals designed specifically for rigorous floor hockey play in physical education classes. What sets these goals apart is their fully-welded 1-1/4" dia steel tubing construction, which offers superior strength over standard bolt-together goals. The smooth, rounded corners and included polyethylene netting ensure safety and longevity, making them ideal for energetic gameplay. Below are 15 engaging activity ideas that utilize these durable steel goals to teach fundamental movement skills while promoting teamwork, coordination, and fun across all grade levels.
1. Goal Getters Galore: Students work in relay teams to dribble a ball using floor hockey sticks toward the RinkPro goal and shoot on goal. This teaches dribbling, striking, and running with object control.
2. Stick Trick Relay: Set up cones in a zigzag path. Students dribble a ball through the cones and try to score on the RinkPro goal. Emphasizes agility, coordination, and manipulative skills.
3. Quick Shot Shuffle: Students slide laterally (sliding locomotor skill) while receiving passes and shooting at the RinkPro goal. A fast-paced way to teach sliding, striking, and timing.
4. Power Push Puck-Off: Using foam pucks, students practice pushing the puck toward the RinkPro goal from different angles. Helps with force control and accuracy.
5. One-Knee Knockout: Students play on one knee to shoot at the RinkPro goal. Builds core stability, balance, and upper body control
6. Goalie Gauntlet: One student guards the goal while others take shots from increasing distances. Teaches defensive body control, striking, and power generation.
7. Target Taggers: Hang targets inside the RinkPro goal. Students aim to hit specific targets using accurate wrist shots. Focuses on precision striking.
8. Pass & Crash: In pairs, students pass back and forth three times before taking a shot on goal. Promotes cooperation, passing (striking), and timing.
9. Rapid Fire Round: Students line up and fire rapid shots on the RinkPro goal within a 30-second window. Helps with reaction time, aiming, and striking.
10. Red Light, Goal Light: Combine the classic “Red Light, Green Light” game with hockey. On green, students advance and shoot. On red, they freeze. Teaches stopping, control, and movement initiation.
11. Cone Zone Snipers: Place cones around the goal. Students earn points for hitting areas between cones when scoring. Trains targeted striking and aim.
12. Mini Match Madness: Small-sided 2v2 or 3v3 games with quick rotations using the RinkPro goals. Trains all core manipulative skills in a fun format.
