Specifications

  • Aluminum shaft
  • Wide plastic head/basket
  • 40"L stick

Designed to Last

These beginner lacrosse sets feature aluminum shafts that are lightweight and corrosion resistant, ideal for indoor and outdoor use. The head flexes when it makes contact with the ground, providing a more forgiving feel and preventing the stick from breaking. The flexible head also prevents injuries if collisions occur.

Develop Skills

Learning the basics of lacrosse early on is key to success later. These sticks introduce young players to passing and catching techniques. An oversized head makes it easier to complete catches because there is more surface area to hit. Each stick also has a strap across the front, which helps hold the ball inside the head when caught. This teaches students proper stick handling and ball control techniques. The 40”L stick is an appropriate size for players of any age.

15 Fundamental Movement Activities Using the GOPHER ReLAX Lacrosse Sets

The GOPHER ReLAX Lacrosse Sets are uniquely designed for beginners, making them ideal for elementary and middle school PE students. With a wider head for easier catching and cradling, plus a softer, no-bounce foam ball, this set prioritizes success and safety. These forgiving features allow students to confidently explore throwing, catching, and cradling without fear of injury or frustration. The following 15 activities use the ReLAX set to teach and reinforce core fundamental movement skills in engaging, accessible, and scalable ways for any PE class.

1. Cradle Craze Relay: Students race in teams while cradling the foam ball in the ReLAX stick, tagging the next runner. Builds running, cradling, and team coordination.

2. Scoop Troop Tag: One student is “it” and must tag others using the soft ReLAX ball cradled in their stick. Tagged players freeze until untagged by a teammate’s scoop. Teaches scooping, dodging, and agility.

3. Catch Me Cradling: Students jog while tossing and catching the ball with each step, increasing speed over time. Builds manipulative control and locomotor rhythm.

4. Cradle Cone Dance: Set up spot markers in a pattern. Students weave through cones while cradling. Reinforces dynamic balance and ball control.

5. Stick & Stretch: Using the stick like a wand, students mimic stretches and non-locomotor movements before transitioning into cradling. Improves body awareness and flexibility.

6. ReLAX & React: In pairs, one student tosses the ball high; the other reacts to catch it after a signal. Boosts reaction time and catching.

7. ReLAX Rodeo Roundup: Foam balls are scattered and students must scoop and return them to color-coded goals. Reinforces scooping and directional movement.

8. Partner Pop Pass: Partners pass the foam ball back and forth with increasing distance. Encourages throwing and catching accuracy.

9. Rainbow Run & Catch: Set up colored zones with spot markers and students must run to the called color, receive a pass, and return it. Focuses on running, reaction, and coordination.

10. Juggle Journey: Students try to keep the foam ball bouncing in the stick head while walking. Promotes control and concentration.

11. Foam Flick Flicker: Students flick the foam ball to a partner with a gentle pass, aiming to land it in a hoop like the Rainbow DuraHoop. Teaches control and target practice.

12. Cradle Copycat: Leader performs a series of stick movements (cradle, scoop, toss), and others mimic. Improves coordination, pattern following, and focus.

13. Drop & Dash: Students toss the ball in the air, drop the stick, and catch the ball with hands before it hits the ground. Builds reaction time and focus.

14. Tic-Tac-Throw: Set up a tic-tac-toe grid using Rainbow Beanbags and DuraHoops. Students toss foam balls to score in a grid. Enhances throwing accuracy and strategy.

15. ReLAX Rally Round: Class forms a circle and must pass the ball quickly around the group using sticks, trying to beat the timer. Works on speed, throwing, and teamwork.
