Gopher PowerPlay Fiberglass-Shaft Floor Hockey Sticks
Our strongest and most rigid floor hockey stick feels and plays like a real hockey stick!
Our all-fiberglass stick will not crack or kink, even with vigorous use. The heavy shaft limits flexibility, mimicking the feel of a real hockey stick.
Specifications
- Fiberglass is the most durable of all our shaft options yet nearly as lightweight as aluminum. Its limited flexibility means it is a more rigid stick for a more realistic game.
- Rounded design offers a more comfortable grip.
- A textured nylon blade is reinforced with fiberglass to hold up to rough outdoor surfaces and will not damage floors during indoor use. Fiberglass is able to stand up to 25x the amount of strength of steel per mound. A perforated design makes the blade more aerodynamic for better speed and power.
- This stick is suitable for players of any level, but is designed especially for intense games.
- Sticks are available in two sizes and two colors to accommodate all ages and easily organize teams.
12-Player Sets include:
- Sticks, 10 Ea
- Goalie Sticks, 2 Ea
- PVC Balls, 3 Ea
- PVC Pucks, 3 Ea
Floor Hockey Drills Using Gopher PowerPlay® Fiberglass-Shaft Sticks
These advanced drills focus on enhancing technical skills, agility, and decision-making for older students using the durable Gopher PowerPlay® Fiberglass-Shaft Floor Hockey Sticks. Each activity targets a specific floor hockey skill such as shooting, passing, and defensive tactics to help students develop into well-rounded players.
1. Speed Stickhandling Challenge: Students weave through a series of cones while keeping the ball close to their stick. Emphasis is on fast, controlled movements with precision stickhandling.
2. Corner Shot Precision: Set up goals at the four corners of the gym. Students take shots from various angles, aiming for a specific corner of the goal. Focus on shot accuracy and decision-making under pressure.
3. Defensive Zone Scramble: One defender vs. two attackers. The attackers pass quickly around the defender in a confined area, trying to score. The defender works on blocking passes and shots using stick placement and body positioning.
4. Chaos Capture: Scatter multiple balls on the floor. Two teams compete to capture and score with as many balls as possible. Defenders aim to intercept and clear the balls, while attackers work on quick decision-making and shooting. The game tests multitasking and reaction times.
5. Fast-Break Transition: Divide the class into two teams. Begin with one team on defense and the other attacking. As soon as the defense gains possession, they must transition quickly to offense and attempt to score within 10 seconds, simulating a fast break.
6. Two-on-One Breakaway Drill: Simulate a breakaway situation with two attackers and one defender. The focus is on the attackers working together to pass and score while the defender tries to disrupt the play and clear the ball.
7. Power Play Precision Passing: In a 3 vs. 2 setup, the offensive team works on quick passes to move the defense out of position, culminating in a shot on goal. The defense focuses on staying in passing lanes and reacting to quick shifts.
8. Goalie One-on-One Showdown: One attacker takes on the goalie in a one-on-one challenge, attempting to fake, deke, and score. Goalies focus on positioning and quick reflexes, while attackers practice moves to outwit the goalie. Rotate players so everyone gets a turn as both attacker and goalie.
9. Stick Handling Under Pressure: Create a small area with four defenders and one attacker. The defenders must maintain control of the ball while the attacker attempts to poke, check, and steal it.
10. One-Timer Drill: Students line up for rapid-fire passes from a partner and aim to hit the ball in motion for a one-timer shot on goal. This drill focuses on timing and striking power while receiving moving passes.
11. Cross-Court Passing Drill: Players work in pairs, positioned across the gym from each other. They practice long cross-court passes while aiming for accuracy and speed. Introduce defenders after several rounds to add pressure and challenge communication between partners.
12. Zone Defense Rotation: Set up four players in a defensive zone. Rotate the ball through the offensive players, making quick passes and forcing the defense to shift and maintain coverage. The goal is for defenders to practice staying compact while adjusting to ball movement.
13. Rebound Control Drill: The goalie and one defensive player defend against a series of rapid-fire shots from three attackers. The focus for the defense is clearing rebounds, while attackers aim to capitalize on loose balls.
14. Power Play Penalty Kill: Set up a 4-on-3 scenario with the offensive team working on power play positioning and puck movement. The defensive team focuses on shot-blocking, positioning, and clearing the ball during a penalty kill.
15. Agility Scramble Drill: Players start from different positions on the court and race to the ball after it’s passed into the center. Once they gain possession, they attempt to outmaneuver their opponent and take a shot on goal, focusing on speed and agility.
