Giant Up 4 It

A game of strategy and skill, students race, one at a time, to get 4 checkers in a row! Heavy-duty board and checkers are durable enough for outdoor play. Storage on the side of the board keeps checkers organized when not in use.
Keep Moving During Games
Instead of sitting in a chair and dropping checkers into a tabletop rack, this game enlarges everything to get students up and moving around. The board stands 48"W x 46"H x 3"D and is large enough that most students need to move around it to get to the proper slot to drop their checkers. Students can take a few steps back and observe the board from a distance to see their next play. There's no sitting when it comes to this giant outdoor board game!
How to Play
Two students start with a clear board and take turns dropping checkers down a slot to position them across any one of 7 columns. The goal is to get 4 in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, before your opponent can do the same. After a player gets 4 in a row, unlock the bottom of the board so all the checkers fall through to reset the game.
Set includes plastic gameboard and 42 plastic checkers (1-1/2"H x 5" dia; 2 oz ea).
Get Moving with Giant Up 4 It!
These activities combine movement with the classic board game, using the Giant Up 4 It™ game to promote both physical fitness and mental agility. The oversized, durable board and checkers are perfect for outdoor or indoor play, making these activities versatile for pairs, small groups, or entire classes. Each activity adds an element of movement, teamwork, or strategy while still focusing on matching 4 checkers in a row to win!
1. Checker Dash: Students must sprint to a distant cone and back before placing their checker on the Giant Up 4 It™ board. This encourages speed and decision-making while maintaining the game’s strategic focus.
2. Jump and Place: Before placing their checker, students must perform a series of jumping jacks or another dynamic movement. This adds a fitness element to the game, keeping everyone moving while strategizing.
3. Color Tag: Each tagger is assigned a color, and when a student is tagged, they must place a checker of that tagger's color on the board before rejoining the game. Players who are tagged will strategically want to place the checkers in a position to not let their opponent win. This adds a twist of strategy and color coordination while keeping everyone moving.
4. Relay Row: Divide the class into two teams, and each member must run to the board one at a time to place a checker. The team must coordinate strategy while also focusing on quick transitions between players.
5. Team Toss and Place: Pairs toss a small ball back and forth a set number of times before one partner runs to place a checker on the board. This incorporates hand-eye coordination with strategy, promoting teamwork.
6. Checker Plank Challenge: Before placing a checker, students must hold a plank position for 10 seconds. This activity engages core strength while giving players time to strategize their next move.
7. Soccer Shuffle Connect 4: Students dribble a soccer ball around a set of cones before running to place their checker on the Giant Up 4 It™ board. This drill combines footwork and precision while maintaining the game’s competitive element.
8. Checker Handoff Relay: In teams, students must run to a teammate, hand off their checker, and that student runs to place it on the board. This introduces a relay element, focusing on speed and coordination.
9. Capture the Checker: In this game variation, students must run and retrieve their checker from a designated spot before placing it on the board. The extra running adds a layer of physical fitness while keeping the strategic focus intact.
10. Group Balance Beam: Students walk across a balance beam before placing their checker. This activity builds balance and coordination while maintaining the game’s strategic elements.
