ACTION! Torqnado Set

Players need to keep their tops spinning while trying to protect them from balls thrown by other teams! Start these PE games by dividing players into six teams and assign each a Rainbow color. One player on each team gets a handle and cord, races to grab a top from the center of the play area, and releases it in the spot of his/her choice. After releasing the spinning top, pass the handle and cord to another teammate to start spinning another top. Players on other teams can throw balls at the spinning tops from a dedicated throwing zone to knock them over. Other players serve as guards and try to protect the tops by blocking the balls. The team with the most tops spinning in its color when time runs out wins! Incorporate even more movement by having a team perform an exercise as all 3 of their tops spin. Teachers can also encourage teamwork during small-sided games that involve 2 colors competing against each other in a smaller space.
