ACTION! 4-Point Play Set
Teams Strategize to Win
Players compete in this giant Connect 4 game to get the most strings of 4 by strategically shooting their team's basketballs into the goal. Players from each team start at one end of the play area and coordinate to advance the ball together by dribbling and passing the ball. They may move only when they are in possession of the ball. Once they get to the shooting line, players take a shot at the goal. If a shot is missed, the player rebounds the ball and passes it to his/her teammate. They continue taking turns shooting the ball until the shot is made. For every string of 4 balls in the goal, a team gets 1 point. The team with the most point at the end of the game wins! All games encourage teamwork, while also building teamwork skills.
Set includes basketball frame (76"W x 74"H x 40"D; 32 lb), net, 42 vinyl basketballs, a VersaBag mesh storage bag, and activity instructions.
ACTION! 4-Point Play Activity Ideas
The ACTION! 4-Point Play Set merges the fun of basketball with the strategy of Connect 4, making it a perfect tool for classes to build teamwork, coordination, and shooting accuracy.
1. Speedy Connect: Teams race to get four balls in a row as quickly as possible. Players must complete each shot within 10 seconds, encouraging fast decision-making and teamwork.
2. Passing Only Connect 4: Players are not allowed to dribble. Instead, they must pass the ball to advance across the court. Once they reach the shooting line, they can take their shot. This focuses on teamwork, ball movement, and communication.
3. Dribble Dash: Before taking a shot, each player must dribble from one end of the court to the other. This variation emphasizes dribbling skills while keeping the game fast-paced.
4. Hot Spot Scoring: Designate specific spots on the court for shooting. Players can only score from these marked locations, adding a strategic element to shot placement.
5. Connect 4 Relay: In this active variation, players must run across a room to shoot. After every move, they pass the turn to their partner!
6. Reverse Connect 4: In this version, the goal is to force your opponent to get four in a row, reversing the strategy of the game!
7. Colored Patterns Connect 4: Instead of four in a row, players must create specific color patterns such as a checkerboard or alternating colors. This adds complexity to traditional Connect 4.
8. Connect 5: Increase the challenge by requiring five balls in a row to win. This simple change significantly increases the strategic depth and length of the game.
9. Timed Connect 4 Frenzy: Set a time limit (e.g., 5 minutes) for each round. Teams must score as many strings of four as possible within the time frame, adding urgency to the game and forcing quicker decisions and shots.
10. One Shot, One Step Back: After every successful shot, the team who made the shot must take a step back for their next attempt. Lay spots on the floor to indicate shooting locations. This progressively increases shooting difficulty and keeps teams strategizing to maintain shot accuracy.
