15 Team-Building Movement Activities Using TeamTrax Team Walkers

The TeamTrax Team Walkers from Gopher Sport are a unique set of durable, non-marring foam-bottomed platforms that allow 2 to 6 students to walk together in perfect unison. The heavy-duty webbing handles offer a secure grip, and the foam base allows for quiet indoor or outdoor use without damaging surfaces. What sets these walkers apart is their safety-focused design, quiet traction, and flexible team size options. They're perfect for developing coordination, communication, balance, and cooperation while incorporating locomotor, body control, and stability movement skills. Below are 15 creative activity ideas that bring out the best in team-based movement challenges.

1. Synchronized Stroll: Teams must walk 20 feet in total synchronization — every footstep matched. Great for timing, coordination, and rhythm.

2. Trax Relay Race: Teams take turns walking from one end of the gym to the other and handing off the walker to the next group. Encourages teamwork and quick transitions.

3. Zigzag Team Trek: Set up a winding cone path and have teams navigate turns while maintaining coordination and communication.

4. Cone Collection Quest: Teams must stop at various cones and collect beanbags (e.g., "Gopher Beanbag Bonanza Set") without stepping off the walker. Enhances control and reaching stability.

5. Tightrope Trax: Tape a narrow path on the floor. Teams must stay within the “line” while walking their TeamTrax, focusing on precise footwork and balance.

6. Trax Tag Team: Taggers (not on walkers) try to tag teams walking. Tagged teams freeze for 5 seconds. Encourages awareness, strategy, and safe movement.

7. Red Light, Green Light — Trax Edition: Classic game where teams must stop and go on command. Great for reaction time and group control.

8. Reverse Retreat: Teams walk backward on the TeamTrax for a short stretch. Develops communication, balance, and trust.

9. Beat the Clock Bop: Teams must reach checkpoints in under a time limit while staying in sync and avoiding mistakes. Encourages quick, accurate teamwork.

10. Alphabet Adventure: Teacher calls out letters, and teams must move to different lettered zones taped on the floor. Adds educational elements to locomotion.

11. Blindfold Balance Challenge: One team member wears a blindfold while others give directions. Builds trust, communication, and leadership.

12. Trivia Trax: Every 10 steps, teams stop to answer a trivia question. A correct answer lets them proceed. Blends movement with academic recall.

13. Cross the River Challenge: Teams must step only on blue floor markers (representing safe “rocks”) while avoiding red ones ("lava"). Builds strategy and navigation skills.

14. The Human Caterpillar: Teams crouch low and try to move in a caterpillar motion across the gym — forward together, then pause — practicing rhythm and core strength.

15. Around the World Walk: Place global or cultural icons around the gym. Teams walk from “country” to “country,” learning fun facts while moving. Integrates movement and cultural education.
