Recess Activities Using the Rainbow UltraPlay RecessReady Ball Pack
These games use the durable, soft, and tacky UltraPlay RecessReady balls, making them perfect for a range of sports-based activities that encourage collaboration, teamwork, and fun during recess. The variations on basketball, soccer, and football are ideal for students to enjoy popular sports in new, exciting ways.
Basketball Activities:
1. HORSE: Players take turns shooting from various spots. Each successful shot must be replicated by the next player. If a player misses, they get a letter (H, O, R, S, or E).
2. Knockout Basketball: Students line up, and the first two players shoot. The goal is to make the shot before the person behind you. If they score before you do, you're out. The tacky grip of the UltraPlay™ RecessReady Basketball allows for better control during shooting.
3. Around the World Basketball: Players shoot from different spots marked in a semi-circle around the hoop. If a player makes a shot, they advance to the next spot. The goal is to complete the entire circuit without missing. The softer ball allows for younger players to shoot without intimidation.
4. Two-Ball Basketball: Teams play a half-court game using two basketballs simultaneously. The goal is to coordinate both offensively and defensively while keeping track of two balls at once.
5. Three-on-Three Mini Basketball: Using the UltraPlay Basketball, students play 3-on-3 half-court basketball, focusing on passing, shooting, and teamwork.
Soccer Activities:
6. King of the Ring Soccer: Each player tries to keep control of their own ball while attempting to knock other players' balls out of a designated area (the "ring"). The last player with their ball still in the ring wins. This game focuses on dribbling skills and ball control.
7. One-Touch Soccer: Players play a traditional game of soccer, but can only touch the ball once before passing it to a teammate. This game improves passing speed and communication between players.
8. Target Soccer: Set up cones or goals, and teams try to knock down the cones by kicking the ball accurately. Teams earn points for every cone knocked down, working on accuracy and power kicks.
9. 3-Goal Soccer: Instead of two goals, set up three goals on different sides of the field. Players must defend one goal and score on the other two. This adds more strategy to the game as players must decide which goal to target.
10. Four-Corner Soccer: Set up four small goals in each corner of the field. Teams must protect two goals while attacking the other two. This variation encourages players to think strategically and constantly switch between offensive and defensive roles.
Football Activities:
11. Flag Football Relay: Students divide into teams and race across the field, running and passing the UltraPlay football to teammates. No tackling allowed—students pull a flag or touch to stop play, making it safe and inclusive.
12. Ultimate Football: A combination of Ultimate Frisbee and football. Players can only advance the ball by passing it, and they must score by catching the ball in the end zone. The soft texture of the UltraPlay Football makes catching easier and safer.
13. 500: The thrower tosses the ball into the air, calling out a point value (e.g., "100 points!"). Players compete to catch the ball, earning the points if they catch it cleanly. The first player to reach exactly 500 points wins, with players returning to zero if they exceed 500.
14. Two-Hand Touch Football: Students play traditional two-hand touch football with passing and running plays. The durable UltraPlay™ ball is perfect for recess, ensuring no one gets hurt, while the tacky texture helps with catching.
15. Five Pass: Players must complete exactly five passes in a row to score a point, with no interceptions allowed. Teams work together to move the ball strategically around the field, emphasizing teamwork, quick decision-making, and accurate passing. The first team to complete a set number of successful 5-pass sequences wins the game.
These activities leverage the durability, soft, comfortable texture, and easy-to-grip tacky surface of the Rainbow® UltraPlay™ RecessReady® balls, making them perfect for recess sports and game-like activities. The balls’ bright colors allow for quick team formation, while the safe, non-intimidating design encourages active participation from all students.
